Housing justice invites us to resist the commodification of housing and the systems and actors who try to deny our people their need for shelter in favor of profit. Come learn about and share your experiences defending community members from forced removal from their housing, aka eviction. Organizers from across the South who’ve been practicing eviction defense will share some practical tips and lessons learned from their experience.

Emma Anderson (she/her) believes everyone should have a safe, beautiful place to live; this should be assured by any means necessary! Emma is from Kentucky and has always lived here. Emma currently works with wonderful people in Lexington to change the housing system and abolish policing forever!

Faith Plank (she/ they) is a leader with KY Tenants who lives in Morehead, KY. Faith was a resident of North Fork mobile home park and a key leader in the campaign to resist the mass eviction of their neighborhood. Since, Faith has been active in KY Tenants and the Homes Guarantee. Faith chaired a meeting at the White House in September 2021 with a tenant delegation demanding an eviction moratorium. Faith is a 2022 high school graduate and Seeds of Fire fellow.

Beau Revlett (they/them), is a tenant organizer with KY Tenants. Beau lives in Morehead, KY and grew up in a small central KY town. Beau organizes tenants to build power for the working class across race and geography, to build a better future for all led by a multiracial, rural-urban base.
